Sensory neuron of the female reproductive tract that responds to sex peptide (Hasemeyer et al., 2009; Yang et al., 2009. There is one cell body of these cells on each lateral oviduct and 3 on either side of the uterus (Yang et al., 2009. (Yang et al., 2009, Feng et al., 2014, Häsemeyer et al., 2009)
These neurons express both fruitless (FBgn0004652) and pickpocket (FBgn0020258) (Yang et al., 2009; Hasemeyer et al., 2009). Sex peptide receptor appears to be axonal, rather than dendritic (Yang et al., 2009.
