Glial cell of the embryo that arises in the anterior deutocerebrum (Hartenstein et al., 1998). During stage 12, these cells increase in number from two to four or five (Hartenstein et al., 1998). They spread out and, together with the PDSG cells, form a band of cells that cover the deutocerebrum and ventral protocerebrum by stage 14 (Hartenstein et al., 1998; Hartenstein et al., 2011). These cells develop into larval surface glia (Hartenstein et al., 1998).
