Embryonic cardioblast that will become an adult ostial cell (Molina and Cripps, 2001). They can be recognized by their expression of seven up, and in the assembled dorsal vessel of the late embryo, there are two in each of hemisegments A1-A4 (Molina and Cripps, 2001; Lehmacher et al., 2012; Chen et al., 2016). It does not form an ostium in the larva, but differentiates into an adult ostial cell during pupal development (Molina and Cripps, 2001; Lehmacher et al., 2012).
