fused cervical sclerite [FBbt_00004548]

Triangular sclerite located in the anterior thorax, lateral to the neck (Gorko et al., 2024). Anteriorly it forms a point where the neck meets the head (Gorko et al., 2024). It is formed from two (anterior and posterior) sclerites that are fused into a single composite structure (Ferris, 1950; Fabian et al., 2016).
