Adult prothoracic muscle that depresses (extends) the trochanter and has its origin outside of the coxa (Miller, 1950; Azevedo et al., 2024). There are two of these on each side, one that originates on the tergum and one that originates on the sternum (Azevedo et al., 2024). Its fibers insert on the prothoracic trochanter extensor (extracoxal trochanter depressor) tendon (Azevedo et al., 2024).
