Adult mesothoracic VUM neuron with a curved main fiber in the ventral nerve cord and extensive fine bilateral arborization around the main fiber in the wing neuropil (Ehrhardt et al., 2023). It is a neuromodulatory neuron that innervates wing muscles (Ehrhardt et al., 2023).

Ehrhardt et al. (2023) seem fairly confident that T2VUM1 matches blowfly mesVUM-MJ (innervates all DLMs and one DVM), but drosophila muscles were not definitively assigned to individual VUMs in this study. Likely to be octopaminergic or tyraminergic (Ehrhardt et al., 2023).
