Adult Muscle

Ventral cervical muscle that connects to a more anterior lateral region of the sternal apodeme than muscle 25 (Miller, 1950; Rivlin et al., 2004). It is spindle-shaped and comprises 3-4 fibers (Rivlin et al., 2004).

Based on sternal apodeme attachment between muscles 25 and 27, this seems to correspond to SC-RO in Gorko et al. (2024). Two of these exist per side in Calliphora (Strausfeld et al., 1987 - doi:10.1007/BF00609727).
