Direct flight muscle connected to the posterior of the third axillary sclerite that, together with muscle III1, serves to depress the anal portion of the wing (Miller, 1950). There are two of these muscles that form a dorsoventrally-oriented group, posterior to muscle III1 (Trimarchi and Schneiderman, 1994; Ehrhardt et al., 2023).
